Founded in 2009 marrying action sports culture, a healthy lifestyle and a relentless focus on technical innovation to reframe the mundane sock. Stance doesn’t fit into normal business life as we have come to know it. From a standing start in 2009 it has become the go to sock for any athlete with a passion for individuality and doing things differently. This idea of doing things differently permeates through every part of the brand. From the space the team work in to the thoughts on how work should be done.
In an age where the work life balance is often an unattainable ideal or a way to say that people don’t get the job done, it would seem that Stance are countering this. Work life balance is high on the priority list here with two thirds of the footprint dedicated to play and recreation and the remaining third for the functional elements of work (desks, meeting rooms etc).
Walking around the Stance HQ it is humming, the usual sights of eyes on screens is punctuated with a body heading out of the door to catch the surf before the next meeting, or coming back from the skate bowl with a renewed clarity to solve a problem. In fact the workspace that so often dominates the majority of offices is diluted with an open creative space much like a dream loft conversion, that just so happens to have a full size basketball court, skatebowl, gym and library as the central hub for the brand to evolve from. As we were told “When you are free to perform. Accountability naturally follows.”
