We feel like the Bialetti is the perfect espresso maker to take out into the wild. For starters, it makes excellent coffee. You can heat them on a stove (or in a fire if you protect the handle), they're relatively lightweight, robust, and unpretentious. They're quite inexpensive, and unlike many of their modern counterparts (the Moka Express was designed in the 1930's), they look better with the patina of a few years of steady use.

When paired with fresh, fine ground coffee (my favorite being from Portland's Coava), you're pretty much living the high life.
